Have you entered my super-easy blog contest to win one of two great books?!?
In honor of World Breastfeeding Week:
1..........slightly tender and slightly leaky breast Sunday night when I went to sleep.
1..........breast that was hot and tender to touch with a ridiculously large lump on Monday morning.
0..........red streaks and fever! Amen.
241......times I told Mr. Messy how glad I was he had already taken this week off from work or otherwise he would have had to come home because I physically couldn't care for our children.
1,952....internal freak outs thinking I was developing mastitis AKA you might as well shoot me now.
8...........page views of KellyMom's clogged duct and mastitis page. How would I know anything about breastfeeding without KellyMom?
19.........gushings to my husband about how I had "textbook" clogged ducts. I like when things are like they are supposed to be.
23.........half-hearted attempts to find my homemade rice sock.
1...........very sweet husband who made me a new homemade rice sock.
47.........reminders from that very sweet husband not to waste my time on facebook or to start blogging during Liza's naptime so I could nap too.
732........minutes in a hot hot hot shower with the handheld shower wand pressed against my chest AKA heaven.
192........times I offered that breast to Liza. Of course, she preferred water most time because after all, it was the hottest two days of my life.
115........degree heat index. Seriously. That is not my attempt at a cruel joke.
98..........percent humidity. You read it right. Ri.di.cu.lous.
9,417.....blames placed on the hot weather for my clogged ducts.
5............days later and only the smallest and painfree lump remains.
1............happy and healthy mama!

You're doing great, mama! Darn hot weather.
I think my LO picked the worst week to wean... World Breastfeeding Week... I'm sad.
Amanda, oh no. Do you want her to keep nursing? There are things you can do....
Hi! Stopping by from MBC. Great blog!
Have a nice day!
Veronica, thanks for reading!
Oh, OUCH!!! Clogged ducts are the worst!!! I'm so sorry you went through that. I also can't imagine surviving breastfeeding w/o Kellymom. That site was awesome while I was BFing.
One thing I learned that actually works (but was the most embarrassing thing I've EVER done) was ultrasound therapy. Since I already go to my chiropractor and get ultrasound massage sometimes, I actually just asked the nurse if she'd, ya know, move it to a new location. It was a first for her. Me too of course. But after that, it went away (though, I also did take a pin to it so that may have helped too). Jack puked pretty bad with the first feeding after the US, but after that we were back to normal.
I'm not sure anyone else would ever want to try that, but I did, and it worked. I think :)
Hmmm. I had to google ultrasound massage. It's new to me. Very interesting...especially about taking a pin to the clog. You are the 3rd person to mention that and while I am a picker (shamefully so) by nature, I can't imagine using a pin for that purpose!
Laura, I had to use a pin, too. It was with Daniel. So after he nursed on that side, I saw sort of like a white head, so I poked it with a pin, and the milk started pouring like from a hose. Immediately I felt so much better. But it took him a whole day to suck that thing out, so I could see it and poke it.
